Inspired; Aroused, or imbued with the spirit to do something, by or as if by divine influence.
Inspiration; A thing or a person that inspires.
I remember vividly the first time that I felt inspired by another person and understood what it was to be inspired. I was at a Kirby sales rally and a motivational speaker named Ernie Villenueva was giving a speech that I swear he meant just for me. I had never even known that there was such a thing as a motivational speaker before that day. This was the day that my thinking began to change. This was the first time that I remember knowing that I could be more than I was in that moment. I was in fact so inspired that I spent literally every last penny that I had to buy his set of cassettes so that I could continue to be inspired by what he had to say.
I’m all grown up now and since that time there have been many amazing speakers that have graced my life and influenced my thinking. The main difference now is that I understand that the true inspiration in my life comes from everyone that I deal with on a daily basis. Clients, family, friends, coworkers, teachers, and even those that I don’t like, they are the ones who bring true inspiration into my world. They bring me my lessons, my blessings, make me laugh and sometimes make me cry. They hold up a mirror for me when there is something that I need to see, hold me when I hurt, accept my love and teach me to open my own heart to receive love. All of my greatest lessons and triumphs in life have been inspired by someone who has walked through my world.
I received a phone call from a friend this week to thank me for making a difference in his world, and was reminded of the importance of letting the people who inspire us know that what they do matters. Once again someone who thought I was making a difference in their world was really making a difference in mine. So today I want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has ever shifted my world for better or what seemed like worse at the time. I wouldn’t be who I am today with you having touched my life. It is through all of you, your struggles, your triumphs, your influence that I am able to live in the beauty that is my life. I am blessed and inspired by all of you who touch my life.
“When we become more fully aware that our success is due in large measure to the loyalty, helpfulness, and encouragement we have received from others, our desire grows to pass on similar gifts. Gratitude spurs us on to prove ourselves worthy of what others have done for us. The spirit of gratitude is a powerful energizer.” — Wilferd A. Peterson
